Response from Library READ Please

July 19, 2023 @ 5:00 pm 5:30 pm

Hello Patriots and Freedom Warriors!

Please see the recap below of last night’s St. Charles County Library Board Meeting from Rachel Homolak. I was at the meeting and spoke. Suffice to say the Library Board showed their true DICTATORIAL colors in a way that would have made Justin Trudeau proud. Apparently they are unaware of something called The First Amendment.

“In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.” Thomas Jefferson

Dear friends and members,

Recap of last night’s SCC library board meeting from Rachel:

“They had people arrive, wait in a line and THEN distributed paperwork to speak at 6:30. No one was informed of this change (normally you arrive, fill out your form and it is time stamped). I am convinced that this was a sabotage attempt bc I had sent a message stating that you could arrive, fill out the paperwork and then go get dinner. This inconvenienced a lot of people such as a mom who needed to get her kids from one place to another during that time in between and not fair. This is how they have always handled the meetings. They should have informed the public of the change by simply posting it to the website.

Many on the opposition tried to cut in line and “places were saved” which defeats the purpose of the line punishing those who sacrificed their time to arrive early. The first 6 speakers were opposition proving that this was the case and of course, exceptions made for the opposition.

The trustees voted to only hear 30 min of public comments (only 14 people spoke, 8 opposition and 6 our side). This was rude and unacceptable to those who took off work, had to get/pay for babysitters, traveled from far distances such as Washington, MO and Illinois, people who spent hours of their time doing research and writing their statements. Again, the public should have been informed of this change and 30 min is hardly enough time for taxpayers to use and practice their first amendment right. It’s clear that the trustees are abusing their power. They don’t want to deal with the issue at hand bc their minds are already made up. That’s their job, even if they have no desire to make any changes. They silenced our voices. This is despicable and unconstitutional.

After they voted on the 30 min of comments, I professionally and politely requested that the board make sure that we hear equal amounts of comments so that one side doesn’t dominate the comments and I was rudely told to shut up and threatened to be removed. This was a reasonable request due to THEM changing the dynamic of the meeting without being informed.

A man with long, grey hair spoke 4th and was at the back of the line. When we brought this to the board’s attention, they did nothing and told us to shut up. After the 10th speaker a woman on the opposition randomly came up to the podium and said that she was skipped. This was the first time I had seen this woman as she was definitely not at the front of the line like I was. The board made no reservations and warmly welcomed her to speak. When we expressed our concerns about this, we were again, shut up.

Someone on our side, who was IN FRONT OF ME at the front of the line was skipped as well and when she voiced that she was skipped (and confirmed by many) she was told to shut up and threatened to be removed.

The trustees made a final comment stating that the library follows their dress code and that they are completely neutral. A bold faced lie and a complete mockery of all of us fighting for the neutrality they clearly are not adhering to. This abuse of power is not to be tolerated.

I wrote the county council and so should you as well at Steve Ehlmann and Dan Borgmeyer who are responsible for the disgusting “leadership” running the library and controlling tens of millions of dollars of OUR money. I stated: This is a dictatorship over our libraries, holding hostage the Conservative taxpayer.

Get angry. You should be. And please show up to these meetings. I know we are all busy and it is summer. I have two small children, 4 and 2. Last night made us look weak because people didn’t show up. We are going to lose if you do not show up and continue to push this. It is as simple as that. This issue DEPENDS on you and your involvement. We cannot portray ourselves as weak again as we did last night. Conservatives need to understand their power. You hold so much more power than you believe and I believe in you. I believe in us, but we cannot be idle. We’ve been idle for too long and that’s what got us in this mess in the first place. It’s time to rise up. Your choices are to fight or to succumb to the insanity of the left. That’s it. This is not going away, and it is only going to get worse if we don’t take a stand.

Please see attached information of contacts to write/call this week. Please forward this to EVERYONE you know. It’s time to step up our game NOW!
